Words Unsaid

Sehnaz Yashmin Alam

Guwahati, Assam State

It hurt a little, I bled too much,

perhaps others do, too.

So many moments that we lost,

I asked myself, "Was it true...!"

Hate was just a shield I wore,

Your silence haunted me, wanting for more.

Did I miss a chance to ease your pain?

Or see the storm you couldn't explain?

If I had known the paths you faced,

Could I have helped, or left a goodbye note?

Every call and text we missed and ignored

Now echoes in my heart with a painful chord.

Would opening up have changed our fate,

Or left us longing, or is it too late?

I hoped and hoped to see you again,

I hope you know.

I wished for ways to help you grow.

I hated to think you felt alone,

And wonder if I could have shown

A love that might have mended more.

I just hope you know

I don't want to leave you anymore...!

Never again. Not anymore...!
