AMAVASI Poem By Rahul Radhakrishnan

When the moon hides

in high skies not seen to our eyes

there comes the willingness

to dream across the resonance

when no lights are in the sky

no songs of any birds

we hear the drizzling of rain

when thy ancestors wait

to emerge from their house

that never will be for your realm

they wait for you to give

when the dark sky weeps

they ask you to give

your love and care

they need you to seek

the urge of their souls

that same night, i dream

of the holy Kailasa

where we see the serene saras,

damsels alighting to reclaim their thirst,

as the sun sets down,

a lovable human arise!

touch down his feet

covered with the divine lotus

the sacred hymns are sung

as the dark sky withers

to a broad daylight

we see the beam of white

where the holy shiva

dances with might

all his tunes ascending to pralay,

all his mantra descending to Om,

the day has come

when we become to be beings

than beings to be

that a day has come

where shiva dances to his eternity!

WRONG DOER

(For Pettimudi)

AMAVASI Poem By Binoy Viswam

Translated By Rahul Radhakrishnan

When the crowd ends

As there comes a tranquility

As dusk approaches

I forge to go to Pettimudi.

There remains only the leftover

cliffs and trees,

Along with the silent wind

there should be nothing at all

the loyal dog who searched for -

his loved ones, by now had left.

There I want to be alone

drenched by the loneliness

as I see those who had gone

to sleep forever without an awakening

I need to ask them about

the way they put up smiles -

in their faces exhausted with

difficulties unmentioned

Let me attach my hands

with the burdened hands of those ladies

in whoose eyes sleep many silent oceans

so that I read what they had told to the land

I want to apologize to them

Not since I'm a culprit

As I'm a wrong doer unable to -

stop a wrong thing from happening
