Both her parents were devoted teachers who dedicated their lives to nurturing young minds. Their commitment to education profoundly influenced her worldview and inspired her own journey as an educator and literary artist. The values of learning, discipline, and creativity instilled during her childhood would later become defining elements of her multifaceted career.

Her academic journey reflects a strong foundation in arts and education. She pursued her studies at several esteemed institutions across Keralam, including Women's College, Thiruvananthapuram; Fatima Mata National College, Kollam; Maharaja's College, Ernakulam; and the Government BEd Training College, Tellichery. These institutions not only shaped her academic outlook but also broadened her intellectual horizons, nurturing the literary sensibilities that would eventually find expression in her writings.

Laila Vinayan began her professional career in the field of education, embracing the teaching profession with the same passion that characterized her family tradition. She served as a High School Assistant (HSA) in the government sector for six years, dedicating herself to the intellectual and personal development of her students. Her excellence as an educator extended beyond the government sector when she joined FACT Udyogamandal School. There, her commitment, innovation, and effectiveness in teaching earned her the prestigious Best Teacher Award, presented by the Chairman and Managing Director of FACT, one of Keralam’s prominent Central Government Public Sector Undertakings. This recognition highlighted her exceptional ability to inspire students and foster meaningful learning experiences.

While education remained an integral part of her life, literature and the arts occupied an equally important place in her heart. For more than twenty-four years, she has actively pursued creative expression across multiple artistic disciplines. Her formal entry into the literary and cultural sphere began in 2002 with the release of the devotional song cassette Nalampala Punyayathra. This project marked the beginning of a rich and diverse creative journey that would span literature, poetry, storytelling, music, and cultural engagement.

Over the years, Laila Vinayan has authored eight books, demonstrating remarkable versatility and literary depth. Her body of work encompasses novels, poetry collections, and short stories, each reflecting her ability to explore human emotions, relationships, spirituality, and social realities with sensitivity and artistic elegance.
